Shum (шум) is a duo formed by Canadian-Ukrainian pianist Anastasia Rizikov and French-Russian cellist Lisa Strauss. The word Shum, which means "noise" in French, evokes the Slavic origins of the two musicians and the repertoire they champion. The duo honors the music of Eastern Europe, Central Europe and the Balkans. They take audiences on a journey to the crossroads of East and West, with music by Schnnitke, Fazil Say, Bartok, Rachmaninov and Arvo Pärt.
